This is a 12x16 acrylic painting, painted 12-30-07 from a photo I shot on location while visiting a friend and her beautiful horse farm in Thomson Georgia last August. This is a heavily wooded, small tributary of Greenbriar Creek that runs through her property. After painting in the sky area, I wet the canvas and blocked in the creek and sandy areas with burnt unbra... little different technique.

It was time-lapsed using a Sony TRV25 in INTERVAL mode (1/2 second every 30 seconds)

  • There should be a section just for speed painting alone...

We who want to learn painting won't waste our time. Nice job but too frustrating, not productive...

  • If what you are loking for is step by step, then search jimmy3dd.

He has the best step-by-step videos. mine are time lapses of my experiments, intended for those who already have a working knowledge of the materials involved.

  • How do you know when to use the fan brush, and what brushes to use for things.

  • Hi, I choose a brush (or palette knife) depending on the shape I am about to paint also considering the size of that to be painted area. Just think "which brush will do the work for me with the fewest strokes" and that's the brush. The fan brush works well for foilage, but it's EASILY overused... I like to use the edges of the fan each side loaded with a similar, but different color. Hope this helps, thanks for watching... have a GREAT painting day!
