  • The unions in FInland are organized in a way that woudl be completely unrecognizable to a union reps here in the states........The word "union" is not universal in definition.

  • In foreign countries, there is no SOCIAL PROMOTION. If a student fails, he must repeat the entire year . . . AGAIN!

In America, it is literally impossible to "flunk" a student!

A teacher must attend a "special retention meeting", where she must present her case to a panel of experts.

Even, if the team agrees to retain the student, the parents can still veto their decision!

That is how you end up with junior high kids that don't know their time tables and read at a 2nd grade level!

  • @catbuffalo That's stupid. No Child Left Behind has nothing to do with how students learn, it's about what they should know. NCLB is not a perfect system though.

  • @bnannylv What are you talking about? The Waiting for Superman film supports your claim... It's about school choice.

  • What's wrong with the public education system? Lots.

But the main thing wrong with it is that the wealthy get to send their kids to great schools and the rest of us don't.

And now the wealthy are trying to brainwash us with propaganda like this "Superman" film. It's garbage. I don't believe it.

  • "Without tenure, I wouldn't be here." Wah...?

  • @BeforeGreyGardens apparently the word "education" is not universal in definition either.

  • @garciadelacadena I agree with you! Home school does seem like a better option, I knew kids from my middle school who were being home schooled and were very advanced academically.

  • @epmer31 that's pretty harsh and ignorant...

  • tenure is destroying educational progress. this woman is idiotic and self serving.
