"No mailing list ...no following ...don't tell where we're playing" ...the Blue Rider Trio was a well-kept secret.

Here's a clip for anyone who loves the Folkways record label. tymjar
REVIEW from ENGLAND, a British acoustic Blues website says:
"Ben has been playing the clubs & festivals along the Eastern seaboard of the USA for over twenty years. His picking on a variety of guitars ~ 12 string, Dobro, 6 string ~ is awesome!! He always gives a passionate display of virtuoso playing, whether it is the ragtime styles of Blind Blake or Willie McTell, the powerful driving rhythms of Huddie Ledbetter or the delicate slide of Mississippi John Hurt he just oozes authenticity. His rich voice perfectly compliments his playing. It is rare to get a combination of superb guitar, stunning vocals & natural swing but with Ben Andrews you get just that...

Ben also provides music scores for film, TV & radio. He has appeared at major festivals throughout the USA & Europe & has performed with many of the legends of blues including: - Muddy Waters, Bo Diddley, Brownie McGhee, John Hammond Jnr. and Robert Lockwood Jnr."

His festival appearances have amazed audiences in Holland, England & the USA. Both Mojo & Blueprint have stated that they considered him the star of the weekend at Bishopstock 2003 where his CDs outsold every other artist & he was the only artist called back for an encore. He is without doubt the real deal."
A tip of the hat to those British friends across the pond and elsewhere:

The Blue Riders, an original acoustic folk blues trio, were recorded in 1996. We champion the East Coast Piedmont style of blues, a style of music first popularized by artists like Blind Boy Fuller, Rev. Gary Davis, Blind Willie McTell and Blind Blake.

  • Ive had the pleasure of seeing ben about five times in the UK & he's the real deal. Theres no other player on the scene with a voice & style like Ben. Wherever you are my friend, keep the faith!!

  • Your right, he´s as very much ...authentic, he doesn´t do imitations. You can hear the decades over which his performing of these songs have evolved.

  • you guys sound great! however you do need to video it a little better. was this recorded off of the tv? keep blues alive!

  • The Blue Riders clips are digital transfer to DVD of 120 minute VHS tapes. Digitizing, with all that information shown in pixels, makes the original analog recording look much more grainy than it was. Also, when I created these clips I didn't have the correct codec installed on my PC = muddy sound, jumpiness, skips, etc. I do now, am fixing and uploading clips I've fixed. Sorry about that; I'm still learning.

  • Ben Andrews is awesome and has an exceptional talent. I was lucky to see him live when he played in Wales on his Gallows Pole tour. I have all his albums and it is a shame we dont see or hear from him any more. Where ever you are Ben we wish you well.. Paul B.

  • I'm sure it was brilliant. Reaction to earlier tour: "The organisers stated that they had never had that scale of reaction is Bishopstock history." ..,

"Both Mojo & Blueprint have stated that they considered him the star of the weekend at Bishopstock 2003 where his CDs outsold every other artist & he was the only artist called back for an encore. He is without doubt the real deal."

  • Wrong about "no following"!!! I'm sure I speak for multitudes behind the woodwork with their ears against the wall, their toes tappin, fingers slappin their noses for blues that's NEWS!!

  • Glad you liked it. This is the original there are no copies.

  • This is the original, real Blue Rider Trio! Where did you get these videos, and where can I get a copy? Hugh Feeley is the real deal - he plays this stuff better than anybody.

  • Awesome...As usual...You made me discover this band...Be sure it made my day ! Thanks...Really cool acoustic guitar !
