Speaker Bio:
Dr. Sean Gourley is the founder and CTO of Quid. He is a Physicist by training and has studied the mathematical patterns of war and terrorism. He is building tools to augment human intelligence.

Description of Talk:
The speed of human strategic thinking is fundamentally limited by the biological hardware that makes up the brain. As humans we simply cannot operate on the millisecond time scale -- but algorithms can, and it is these algorithms that are now dominating the financial landscape. In this talk Sean Gourley examines this high frequency algorithmic ecosystem. An ecosystem, Gourley argues, that has evolved to the point where we as humans are no longer fully in control.

About TEDx:
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

Anyone one else figure out that the chess game was actually over and not a thinking process of if check-mate was taken place? Hint- There is no other king on the board so the game is won.

FYI... Algorithms are mathematical and all of the Quants blew up in 2008. Fundamentals and Technical Analysis are totally separate as well.

I trade the Markets at the moment regularly with my brokerage and make around 70% a month. I’m looking to train clients for free once they have deposited a minimum of £5K into their account. 5 free 1 hour training sessions, all training is one on one and if you are in the UK we can do them at my office, otherwise we can do it online. Why pay for training when you can have it for free from a professional! E-mail me on sohalamar@hotmail.com if you are interested.

As long as humans create algorithms they arent going to take over anything. Algorithms still based on fundimentals and technicals. Nothing new.

This is a terrible presentation, completely plagarized from "Financial black swans driven by ultrafast machine ecology" by Johnson et al in 2012.
