Troma's War is better than this

The book was brilliant though. If anyone's read that then the film ends shortly before the book does, missing out a huge important climax that sets up Book 2 and kills off a key character. Guess the producers/director didn't really want to do that, which is a shame as the sequel was my favourite book in the Trilogy. And for those that haven't read The Northern Lights (The Golden Compass' book title) yet, it's well worth a read, as with the sequels.

Golden Compass had a terrible message for children. A well-polished turd is still a turd. And Golden Compass was trying to sell itself pretending to be a Narnia knock-off. At least, if the marketing team was to be trusted. Which they clearly weren't.
