Oh by the way, evidence gathered by the Taylor Inquiry shows that hardly any fans got in without paying. The HSE studied figures from Sheffield Wednesday's admissions system, and from the CCTV footage taken when Gate C was opened, and they concluded that the number of Liverpool fans in the stadium was below their ticket allocation. The Leppings Lane terrace wasn't overcrowded, just two pens were. It was the distribution of fans that went wrong, not the total number of them.

I can't believe that after all these years there are so many people who still believe that myth. It started with Duckenfield lying to the Chief of the FA just minutes into the Disaster - he later admitted under oath that he had made it up - that was about 3:15 on the day, when he couldn't possibly have known whether fans had tickets or not. It was clearly either a guess or a smear, but somehow loads of people still believe it. Credulous fools.
