• Channel 4 is funded by advertising - all of the TV licence money goes to the BBC. You ought to check your own facts before lambasting other people in such a high-handed manner!

  • ON POINT I: Precisely. Sensationalism runs counter to the basis of our supposed high regard for the BBC. Deception even more so.

ON POINT II: To exploit an elderly person, even the monarch, for cheap titillation purposes is perhaps permissible if done by tabloids, but not if done by a publicly-funded supposedly-responsible institution.

  • As a rhetorical question, your point would be valid if

1 one were walking into the room from outside the building, as opposed to walking into one room from another room within the same building; and,

2 one were walking into a room where, say, state guests were waiting and everything started the moment one stepped in, as opposed to, say, a photo shoot which does not necessarily start immediately

  • Because if we didn't have a public service broadcaster, we'd effectively be signing away our right to a fair and unbiased media. For god's sake, the BBC is the only true unbiased broadcaster out there. Yes, it made a mistake - but journalists are only human and therefore sometimes do make mistakes. Plus, Channel 4 is partly funded by the licence fee, so you're statement above is ill-informed. I suggest that you read up on a subject before you post a statement next time.

  • i'll have no bad words said against the bbc. they are suffering the ongoing wrath (from beyond the political grave) of an overpowerful presidential PM. who slasted their budget after they told the truth about the lie that took us into an illegal and unjust war. perhaps moreso we should encourage news at ten, six and one to get back to reporting real news rather than all this whipped up bruhaha

  • ... RDF ... just anti-monarch, nothing suspicious!!

  • The BBC's arrogance and utter contempt never fails to amaze me. Why should they be funded by the British public whilst every other channel has to earn their existance?

  • Doesn't anyone respect authority any longer. Who the hell does A.L think she is ANYWAY!
