In this D minor 7th jam solo section, I introduce the Dorian Scale going over derivation and construction as well as ways to use this scale and scalar patterns in your solos. How to "think melodically" is the theme of this lesson segment.

I introduce my way of building a solo with a variety of techniques, all of which I use very effectively to this day. Players must strive to play melodically and get out of the bad habit that many guitarists fall into; playing pre-determined patterns and relying on speed to play solos instead of thinking melodically.

Using expressions such as bends and vibrato are also introduced. The "question and answer" technique, 2 and 3 note ideas, and rhythmic alteration with scale patterns are also discussed along with some very effective ways to use double stops. Cool materials!
