Kyle Butt, M.A.,"David's Census and the Plague"
http://www.apologeticspress.org/article/2237

Footnotes:
--------------

- In the second animated segment, the Bible citations at the bottom right should say "II Samuel" instead of "I Samuel." I can't think of a good excuse why that happened, so I'll say God did it. Then at a later date, I'll revise this and say that Satan did it.

- On God or Satan ordering the census ...
This video is only concerned with God killing 70,000 people. The topic of who was behind getting David to do the census is a much more interesting question that will be in a future video. I will say for now that Satan's appearance in 1 Chronicles is the first time Satan, as an independent cast-out rival of Heaven, makes an appearance in the Hebrew Bible. More to come later.

  • 2nd book of Samuel otherwise known as 2nd book of the Kings ???

2 Samuel is NOT 2 Kings.

  • @Meskiagkasher - Nobody said it was. Type In "second samuel bible" into a google image search and you will see that's how it's titled in many bibles.

  • @43alley the video says that at 1:35

  • @Meskiagkasher - As it should. If you have a King James Bible handy, look up the first page of I Samuel. It will say "I Samuel, otherwise called the First Book of the Kings."

If you look at II Samuel, it will say "otherwise called the Second Book of the Kings"

I Kings will say ""otherwise called the Third Book of the Kings" and II Kings will say ""otherwise called the Fourth Book of the Kings"

  • Why did god have to talk to david via gad? Cant he talk directly with david? from what I understand gad was david's personal prophet so, was he basically a court astrologist for david?

  • @Rotorzilla - Don't you see? In the beginning, God was physically right there with Adam and Eve. Then by the time Moses came, he hid up on a Mountain. Then he retreated physically and started using angels as couriers. Then later he made the transition to human messengers like Gad. Eventually, he quit sending messages at all. Now he only appears in grilled cheese sandwiches.

  • @43alley God works in mysterious ways. One day he appears as a stain on a cracked wall near leaky roof, then for the ten years after you see no sign of him again. My uncle said he saw Jesus in his soup once.

  • Another superb video.

  • @wbharkins teachings that can help you? Serious? Hmmm, I really want to marry that woman.

Real man- I'll try and court her, impress her, show her why I'm a good mate, give her reasons to be attracted to me, be kind, friendly, smart, thoughtful, loving, giving and show her I'm a good man.

Bible- Rape her, give her father $50 silver pieces.

  • God is like the biblical mafia. You don't pay up and he'll send his angels to have you taken care of.

  • Now THAT is a way to make an atheists head explode.

What a horrible book, and the apologetics makes me sick.

  • Another question: Why did an omniscient god sent out people on a 9 month journey to count all people in several nations?

  • @wbharkins *Blink* Because of people like you. Personally I'm still going up for "In God We Trust" to be taken back off the American currency but...

  • @tobyeo LOL good one! Remember he knows the number of hairs on our heads too ! lol

  • @wbharkins you mean teachings and historical events like the one described in this very video? We criticize the bible in hopes that you will think for yourself and question the existence of god. We criticize the bible in the hopes that you realize your beliefs are based on stupid nonsensical fairytales and historical (fan)fiction. We want you to use your brain instead of set it on automatic and just assume things without good reason. I dare you to comment on the actual video & reveal its message

  • "This worked out well. Killing 70,000 innocent people while leaving King David unharmed will teach him not to take a census after I tell him to take a census" - God
