It is simply from information my Hapkido instructor attained from our Grandmaster who is president of the United Hapkido and Hapkihae Federation. It is our notebooks we use to keep track of techniques and learn the history and language of the Korean people and Hapkido.

TYCKY321 "It comes from Tae Kyon, Aikido, and Aikijutsu". Can you site references? Choi Yong Sul taught aikijujutsu, some of his students formed "hapkido". But Taekkyun? I think only ad-hoc as hapkido masters competed for number and variety of techniques, adding anything imagined or copied. Aikido - sister art under aikijujutsu - but no record I've seen of Choi teaching it in Korea; not even studying it in Japan. Any references appreciated. Thanks, Tony

Hmm it's allot different from jiujutsu on the technical level.

Ground techniques in Hapkido are for high ranking belts. Most of our techniques are from standing and deal with grabs or punches. It comes from Tae Kyon, Aikido, and Aikijutsu.

Hapkido is basicly Korean Jiu-Jitsi. It can be traced back to Aiki -Jiu-Jits.

Coolllllll! at the ground is like jiu-jitsu!!!

Good to see a martial art OTHER than Brazillian JJ showing some ground fighting.
Personally, going to ground is the -last- thing I'd want to do during combat :)
