And that isn't the only boss that's based on a real-life creature.
The other example is the third boss, "Daio and Gishiin".(Daio is the beetle, while Gishiin is the big creature.)
It doesn't take a genius to figure out that Daio is based on a dung beetle, but Gishiin's inspiration, on the other hand, is far more obscure.
Gishiin is based on a prehistoric crustacean known as the "Opabinia".
(In fact, Gishiin practically IS a giant Opabinia!)

Fun fact: Did you know that the design of "Ω Zone"(The final boss) is based on a real-life creature known as an "Elephant Jellyfish"?
Seriously, Google image them(I reccomend that you use their Japanese name, "ゾウクラゲ" and compare them to "Ω Zone". I guarantee that you'll be surprised at how much they resemble each other.

@triplestar100 Doubt it, if they cared THAT much about Taito, they'd release another proper compilation by now.
-
You know a game has an awesome soundtrack when the creators even put the name of their tracks in the stage.

Ending just want to say "oups".

I've never seen this game before, but it looks and sounds gorgeous.
since Square-Enix owns Taito now, it's a dream of mine that they may one day remake this masterpiece! hell, even as a DLC game for PSN and Xbox Live! please hit "like" if any of you ladies & gents agree!
