Demo of the Nintendo Saver 2009 "movie wall". One of the new features of this screen saver for Windows is the ability to emulate and display multiple NES movies at once - in this video, 60 movies are being emulated in real time at 60 Hz. There is an "active" movie that gets to output its sound to the speakers; here the active movie is changed by pressing the arrow keys, ultimately ending on a movie of Super Mario Brothers.

See http://www.ubernes.com/nesscreensaver.html for more details.

  • I don't suppose there will be a Linux version for this since the emulator itself is dependent on DirectX right? :(

  • A Linux version is planned but working on the new 2010 version has priority at the moment.

  • I have the maximum unique games set to 8 and I even tried using 100% video only and it's still running slow while using up both CPU cores.

  • It sounds like you might have to lower the "Maximum unique games to emulate" setting, which is available on the video options dialog. You other settings (GDI, x1 software and hardware scaling) are already set for maximum performance. Let me know if that works!

  • Also, They don't play at full speed when they're tiled. I've tried different settings such as direct draw, GDI, I'm using x1 hardware and x1 software scaling, and when I take over a game it seems to play fine, but will freeze every so often for a second.

  • I keep getting lagging problems when I try to use this and 100% of my dual core processor is used.

  • Also, the upcoming 2010 version of the Nintendo Saver will fix the "stretching across two monitors" problem the 2009 version has.

  • oh, ok. thanks

  • Yes - in the "Advanced movie wall options", uncheck the "Switch to these video settings when taking over for a game" checkbox.

  • is there a way to take over a game without maximizing that game? i am using dual monitors and whenever i take a game over, it is split between the monitors.
