Mr. Fawkes turned into an ass.

Constancy is for the morbidly unimaginative. Men were born to claim as much 'Virgin Territory,' as possible. A happy man is a fruitful, virile man. He expresses and confirms himself by plowing as many fields as he can sow.

These people were repulsively, no, no, grotesquely wealthy.

hmm, I agree with the comments saying Sarah seems very innocent and unrefined. She was about fourteen or so when she came to court in reality so maybe that's what they were trying to portray?? I mean, imagine a teenage girl from the country coming into the very adult and male-dominated London Society. You would have to have nerves of steel to not feel any intimidation!

@Sapphirekatgirl2 From what I have read, the men often abandoned maids when they tired of them. So it would hardly be a 'win' If she got pregnant, bad luck to her.The child would be illegitimate and the man wouldn't see it as his duty to feed and clothe it, let along provide it education. For a long time there was no law to make the man obligated to care for their illegitimate offspring and even when such a law came into being...

Fox's boys are ugly fat pigs. Odd she didn't have more babes.

When you think about it, Emily probably did not mind Jimmy cheating with the maids because it gave her a break from "Breeding." The maids had no worries because their children would be taken care of and educated. A Win Win for everyone.

Love her wicked laugh at the end. But of course infidelity is bad!
And they used to call women the weaker sex. Unbelievable considering what they had to put up with and all with a smile on their face.
