Match move and compositing test

Test of model compositing to a motion-tracked scene.
Location of Epping Station in Sydney Australia, Filmed on a Canon D60, tracked with Syntheyes and Composited in After Effects CS3, using a 3D Studio Max 9 Vray render of a Half-Life 2 Antlion with HDR lighting.

First frame is bad and the shadows and lighting don't match the scene.

But shadows? I see AO, but no accurate shadows.

@AnsonAdams Correct - I didn't take an HDR sample as this was literally a "hey i wonder if.." moment while waiting for a train. It's more of a test of the motion tracking workflow. It's a happy accident that the stations lighting is diffuse enough to get away with no *real* lighting!

its easy enough to do this with a still camera, but how did you make it as you walk backwards? did you have to walk backwards in Gmod at the same time as in real life?

@xIAMDAVEx Look up "3d motion tracking" for more info on the process; the Antlion model was extracted from HL2 and rendered in 3d Studio, then composited over the top of the original footage.
