  • there are accounts that he had used them to hunt for buried treasure but I'm sure they'd rather tell you he found them with the golden plates, of course since there was never any proof that he had found those anyway....

You don't need the book of mormon to grow closer to God, you have the bible, stop confusing what it teaches with mormon doctrine. Turn away from a church with another Gospel and multiple gods, turn to the Word of God

  • it may be well designed to make you feel that way, what better way to draw in ppl. No where in the bible does it mention translation or divine dictation of books. All books of the bible were written by prophets or by their disciples without the direct intervention of God dictating to them.

Hear O Israel, The Lord our God is Lord alone

find me 1 Jew who agrees that this supports your view of God. Mormons misapply verses constantly, ignoring what they were written to mean

  • You said something else about Joseph Smith having the keys where the Bible said Christ did. Both are true Joseph Smith got his keys from Peter James and John who got the keys/athourity from Christ. Joseph never claimed the priesthood was his it was Christ's and Joseph was called to be a representative of Christ. This doesn't mean he thought he could take the place of Christ.

  • So if I remember right on my mission I was always told I was un logical. You find fault with Abraham for lying. Have you watched cop shows or do you know anythng about law enforcement? Cops lie. They aren't in the wrong when they do it ,because they save lives. Pharoah had a very evil desire to kill Abraham and take his wife. The Bible also says thou shalt not kill ,but yet Saul was commanded to destroy a whole city and was rebuked by the prophet Samuel for not killing the king.

  • Please do some research and know what you're talking about before spouting off at the keyboard. Have a nice day.

  • Another thing: all bad things in this world (disease, crime, weather phenomena, earthquakes, etc.) are a result of being an accursed creation as a result of Adam's sin (the federal head of the human race). If Adam hadn't sinned, we wouldn't do a lot of things we do today: Adam and Eve were naked, yet today, we wear clothes. They didn't have to work for a living; we do. While SOME disease IS a result of sinful lifestyle choices, some is also just a part of being in said accursed creation.

  • Also from bornagainunbeliever:

The Bible was "clearly written by people who thought...the earth was flat."

    Oh really...?

I submit Isaiah 40:22, where "the circle of the earth" is mentioned. Maybe OTHER cultures and races were flat-earthers, but the prophet Isaiah wrote this well over 2,000 years ago.

  • As for people in Biblical times thinking the earth was flat, a lot of people back then thought a LOT of things. The Greeks had their pantheon of mythical gods and goddesses, the Egyptians were an idol-worshipping people from the word go. God created the Jewish nation to preserve His truth and to act as a conduit for said truth to the world.

  • No, religions are NOT all the same song sung in a different voice. If they were, Jesus died for nothing. Yes, eternal life is inevitable for everyone; the question is WHERE? Below, bornagainunbeliever accuses the Bible of being "riddled with errors," indicative of a superficial knowledge of the Bible at best, hearsay, or have a predetermination NOT to believe it, regardless of its veracity. While the Bible does have *difficulties,* when investigated, there are logical explanations.

  • @brwnsftblvr Amen !

  • @brwnsftblvr moses?
