Maria de Fátima was born 1961 in Lisbon, Portugal. She began her professional music career at the age of 12 when she released her first album. In the following years she recorded another three albums. At the early age of 14, Maria de Fátima won the Grand Noite de Fado, the most prestigious award in the world of Fado. In Portugal, she shared the stage with some of the most renowned Fado-artists, like Amalia Rodriques, Jorge Fernando and Camané. She performed at the famous Maria Victoria Theater, for radio and TV and also in several Casinos in Portugal.

Now, Maria de Fátima lives in Amsterdam, The Netherlands where she performs in theatres and at famous venues like the Royal Concertgebouw (sold out !) in Amsterdam and the Vredenburg Music Centre in Utrecht. Also there have been international acclaimed performances in France, Belgium, Luxembourg and Germany. Over the years, thousands of people have enjoyed her concerts and Maria de Fátima has became one of the most respected fadistas of Europe.

In 2002 Maria de Fátima and her ensemble ROSÁRIO recorded the album FOI DEUS, which contains a surprising combination of traditional fado with folk- and new-age elements. It was released in The Netherlands and Portugal where it received excellent reviews in the press. In 2004 she was invited to be a special guest at the Noite de Fado concerts in Holland with Helder Moutinho and Joana Amendoeira. In August 2004 the album FADO VIVO was released, which is a live registration of the concerts Maria de Fátima gave with her new band in the spring of 2004 in the Netherlands. The album contains, besides well known classical fados and ballads, several acoustic versions of earlier recorded songs from the FOI DEUS album. According to press-reviews the album clarified that Maria de Fátima can compete with the great fadistas from Portugal and it has established her qualities on an international level.

In September 2006 Maria de Fátima and her band went to Portugal for their new album ALMA (label: Coast to Coast). It was recorded at the famous Pé de Vente-studio, where fadistas like Mariza, Ana Moura and Cristina Branco have recorded their best work. The famous singer / producer Helder Moutinho produced the album together with the young guitar virtuoso Diogo Clemente who also made some of the arrangements. Besides the excellent musicians of her own band some of the best Portugese Fado musicians like Diogo Clemente, Bernardo Couto and Fernado Araujo were invited to contribute. Most of the songs are Marias all time favorites of Amália Rodrigues but she also composed her own songs for the album. This resulted in a beautiful classic fado CD which the leading World-Music magazine HEAVEN describes as the best fado album of 2006

In 2007-2008, Maria de Fátimas theatre tour in Holland, was a tribute to the work & life of the great Amália Rodrigues.

In 2009 Maria toured through Holland with the famous Dutch singer Thé Lau. Together they gave over 30 concerts in Holland & Belgium.

In 2009-2010 Maria de Fátima once again appears on stage with her new theatre show MEMORIAS , named after her CD MEMORIAS DO FADO (released January 2009). The album contains a musical interpretation of her memories of Lisboa and Portugal.

Maria de Fátima is accompanied by the following musicians:
