Good old film trick, but what this got to do with anything?

This guy is a jerk off. He's just trying to prove something to be fake that he doesn't know about. What a dork.

@Jonste24 Search youtube for this video:
" Ghost Hunters Flashlight trick EXPOSED!! "
Instead of using video effects, the guy just uses a normal flashlight, set up exactly like the Ghost Hunter guys recommend. He even references the show. They are not contacting spirits. They are creating a faulty switch. They are plumbers with mechanical/electrical knowledge. They must surely know what they are doing.
Stay skeptical my friend. Fascinated, yes. But always skeptical.

@Jonste24 The twisting type lights do not have a clearly distinct on/off position. I've turned a light off before, put it away in my toolbox, only to come back and see that it was on. I think it's easy for that type of switch to be left in a condition where the contact is tenuous and subject to arcing itself on or off.

Oh, for God's sake! Just explain it; how did you do it???...you are so BORING!

I have the same flashlights they use and have unscrewed the back, where the batteries are inserted, so the button can be manipulated with the lightest touch. It did not happen. One has to hold down the flashlight on the floor/ground firmly and then turn on the flashlight. In my mind this has been debunked.

I applaud your effort, but that doesn't address the fact that many people(myself included) have witnessed flashlights seemingly turn on by themselves, so it's not just on television. For debunking purposes try using the flashlights that are activated by twisting them. Those are the kinds I've seen work. I would like to see someone figure that out, as I am a skeptic myself.

Never said that this disproves anything. Just showing how it could be done. And the method that I used here it would not make any difference in the world on what kind of flashlight was used. It all is the same.

I think it would have been easier to film the flashlight without moving the camera (tripod), overlay the effect, then simulate camera motion on the final mixdown of the two layers.

Not with Liquid Edition. ;-) The challenge with your method would be dealing with border area. If you were to use standard video not HD then you would have to Zoom into the flashlight enough to allow Pan-Scanning. In doing so you would degrade the video too much. With HD video that wouldn't be the case. Motion tracking is not that difficult so long as the video has enough contrast points to track.

Agreed. I'm just thinking of alternate ways these "ghostly encounters" could be faked. I'm even thinking of making a video to demonstrate.

kool. You can put it as a video response to mine.
