Marvelous teacher

Am I the only one that actually finds the crazy string-skipping stuff much easier than the body of the actual main riff itself? :-/

Can you show some other Paul gilbert riff that can be played by mere mortal like me

Something thats been bugging me for a while,
How do you get your palm muting at the same volume as regular picking?? How do you make it so subtle? :)
Great lesson its saved me alot of studying, thanks mate.

Mute nice and close to the string end at the bridge, gives a lighter mute. Moving further along the string towards the nut or applying more pressure will kill the string quicker and give a heavier mute. HTH :)

i noticed that at the end of the part when you played to the original timing, your video and your audio was a bit out of sync and while you were teaching the riffs, the sound from your guitar was different from the part. i'm not trying to say that you're fake or anything cos i learned quite a bit from this vid and i thank you for that but i just noticed that tiny little error.

@blitz92z I record the audio for each section differently and record the audio separately. For the demo part I have just the amp mic'ed and for the actual lesson I use an ambient mic to record my voice and guitar. Everything is then edited together, video and audio, in Final Cut Express where I line up the audio waveforms to the camera audio. I've noticed sometimes that once things are uploaded to youtube there's a tiny bit of lag.

@mastertheguitar oh that explains a lot. thanks! anyway, you make really good videos. but i've noticed you make vids on songs by bands which are rather metallish and hard rock-ish (if i'm not wrong). ever thought of teaching the riffs of other songs of other genres? i'm pretty sure more people will watch your vids if you do so.

@blitz92z I tend to cover riffs from bands/artists I love which covers a wide range from rock to blues to jazz to funk to pop to metal, hard rock etc. You should see the list of riffs I would love to cover! :D It's just finding the time to do them :)
