why did they move the bell and light? the best time to see the 425 is when it is overcast. back when they first painted it blue when i was a kid in shoemakersville on water st, they were headed south, and it just glowed. absolutly beautiful

Well I see you didn't watch the Reading & Northern's 25th. Anniversary videos 425 pulled 8 coaches all by her self.

On the Lehigh Line they have to have extra help, the 425 is only a 110 ton locomotive it does have power but not pulling 13 coaches, it was only built to pull around 8 to 10 coaches and that was on a flat area. This locomotive is the only Gulf Mobile & Northern Steam locomotive left! it was built by Baldwin in 1928.

dang, i din't even recognize it at first. they moved the light and the bell. cool, but i like the way it looked before.

It hasn't be operating for 13 years, the last time was in December of 1996. It's been stored in the Steam shops at Port Clinton, Pa. beside their Ex.Reading Company T-1 2102 4-8-4 which is OOS.
