Montage - Italian Arietta from Antonio Caldara (1670-1736) and Giovanni Paisiello (1740-1816). A fairly typical part of a vocalists repertoire. Arietta from La molinara (1790 Vienna) by Paisiello.

Lyrics:

Nel cor più non mi sento
brillar la gioventù
caggion del mio tormento
amor sei colpa tu
mi pizzichi, mi stuzzichi
mi pungichi mi mastichi,
che cos' è questo ahi mè,
pietà pietà pietà
amore è un certo
che disperar mi fà.

Source(s):

Schirmer's Library of Musical Classics "24 Italian Songs and Arias of the 17th and 18th Centuries." This is the standard book for developing singers in conservatory.

Really rough translation from the Schirmer book:

Why feels my heart so dormant, no fire of youth devine?
Thou cause of all my torment, O Love, the fault is thine!
He teases me, he pinches me, he squeezes me, he wrenches(doesn't mastichi mean to chew? heh) me; What tortures I must bear!
Have done, have done, have done!
Thou, Love, art surely one....Will drive me to despair!

  • i think my son must know this! He studies pianoforte at the Conservatorio di Musica di Venezia! ...he moved into an apartment in S. Marks Square w/ his girl friend, within a week they were at each others throats...now they're both back home(Pordenone)!

  • yeah, this is a well used and commonly studied arietta among vocalists and folks that do their accompaniment :)

happy to hear another musician in the family!

  • Very good presentation,I like the choice of photos, who's the singer and accompagnist?

  • that would be me on both. thank you for the comment and compliments.

  • This is nice and a lot of fun, too.

Is the clavichord shown in the images the instrument on which you are playing the accompaniment?

Keep it up: I'll be looking for more!

  • I like how you took the lyrics into consideration when choosing your photos...it made it more fun..cute, but slightly funny! good job!
