  • i beleive the orig Mr Mistoffelees(SP) was the wonderfull Wayne sleep ... but i may be wrong .. i cant be bothered to go upstairs to check on my c.d or L.P lol.. think it was wayne tho

  • You are right. Wayne Sleep was orig, and Scott Wise on B'Way, but this was shot many, many years after him...

  • @NewNickTahoe wait. . .wasn't timothy scott. . .the orig. b'way mistoffelees???

  • @skimbles1 you're abso right. scott wise was in cats for years, and became the toast of broadway in the 90's esp when he was in guys and dolls and damn yankees. i don't know why i sometimes confuse him with timothy scott, um, yes i do, it's because they share the name scott..no excuse and i'm sorry t.s. and s.w. for the mistake....thanks!

  • My sister just sent me this video - this is a video of me when I played Mr Mistofolees in Cats - I was only 18 (I had just returned from training at Alvin Ailey in New York). Sorry about the skinny legs, my fiancee still complains about them!

Gosh, to be that fit again!

  • This Mistoffelees is completely amazing. When he jumps into the conjuring turn he's just fantastic. It's the best part imo. But I'm really stuck on this Rum Tum Tugger! Is it Christopher Howard? This Tugger is so funny and energetic; I've never seen anyone skip on stage! He's such a laugh, and so adorable. I think he's my favorite Tugger.

Found a video with more or less this same choreography from '91, but I think this performance was better.

  • I love what he does with his head when he finishes the turn! LOVE CATS!

  • 3:04 - 3:21 HOW IS THAT PHYSICALLY POSSIBLE???

  • 2:53 3:03 I don't remember that bit of music being used in any production i've seen. was it unique to the London production?

  • I think it might be Louie Spence

  • @MrRoehampton

James, do you remember if they changed the Conjuring Turn choreography at some point where the leg that's stretched out is bent for part of it? I can't stand that they changed it and also they didn't put the turns it in the video of Cats! Anyway, I saw it a bunch of times on Broadway and it was never just straight fouette turns, it was what you did, the alternating for a bit, then a combo of turns in a row... sorry to be so picky!

  • I wish i could dance that well :( amazing job though, truly blew me away!

  • @maylayfox I think it helps the dancer. One would think that the longer, bushier tails would get in his way
