@soniasara07 Additionally, a sexual orientation shouldn't bother anyone. A chemistry between two straight actors won't be greater only because they're straight. It depends on their acting skills. Straight actresses can play lesbian as well as straight actors can play gay and vice versa. After all, it's just a movie, a fiction.

@soniasara07 Don't worry, I didn't take offence, that's why I used ":)" We shouldn't be sorry that Richard is gay, we should only be sorry that he can't stay young forever and please us with his acting skills. When I watch "The thorn birds" I see Ralph and I totally believe in his love and attraction to Maggie, I don't think about Richard and what a shame is to all straight women in the world that he's gay.

@soniasara07 He's gay. So what? it's called acting :) The fact he's gay doesn't change the fact that Ralph and Maggie are one of the best on screen couples ever. They have such an amazing chemistry. And gay people are hot, get over it :)

Though, of course, Chamberlain is hot etc. etc., I think the book is better. It depicts the characters more deeply, showing their inner lives, doubts, angers. The film is just a film-a nice appetizer to a book...or a bit disappointing dessert.
What a pity Chamberlain and the girl didn't have a chance to show more, the story is so captivating.
