Documentary on reported Conservative bias of the Rupert Murdoch-owned Fox News Channel (FNC), which promotes itself as "Fair and Balanced". Material includes interviews with former FNC employees and the inter-office memos they provided.
On 18 July 2004, a network of "house parties" premiered this film on DVD throughout the USA. The screenings were synchronized to begin at 9:20 PM Eastern time, and afterwards, a two-way communications link via computer was used to voice opinions and interview several of the people involved in the documentary's production.
The director, Robert Greenwald, used a clip from Eric Clapton's song "Layla" for the film's closing credits in a rough edit, and then read in a magazine interview that Clapton had a long-standing hatred of Rupert Murdoch. He approached Clapton for permission to use the song in the film, and he granted its use... for free.
Certain Murdoch-owned newspapers in Australia refused to run ads for theatrical screenings of the film claiming that the ads were "offensive". The newspapers were not satisfied with the ads until they were pared down to the bare title of the film (without the tagline "Rupert Murdoch's War On Journalism"), the name of the theatre and the session time(s) with no accompanying artwork.

@adi87tya to bring social consciousness to the masses, it will take much more than that im afaird. it will take direct agitation and education of the masses through protests and community workshops. whether its a group or a lone man with a sign the people need to be exposed to the truth about the american empire and given the tools to overcome it. thats why we need a socially conscious minority to act on these necessary tasks, change will not come about through mass movement alone.

@metalgearanarchist Actually, more than public ownership, there should be public awareness. Empowering independent media, internet media and alternate sources of information will bring these big corporations down.

Replace fair and balanced with unfair and biased and you have a truer picture of how fox news really operates. The spokes channel for the neo liberal conservative oligarchy that now controls 99% of the western media.

this is why i support public ownership of all media outlets and complete and total suppression of all forms of censorship and bias. journalism is about informing the masses and providing transparency to government action. without this, there can be no democracy and no society capable of critical thinking or making informed decisions. privately owned media only tells you what the owner whats you to hear and what benefits the owner and his agenda.

@Ronsn0815 That doesn't include the millions who watched it on video tape or Robert Greenwald's (producer's) Web site.
