A 13 part series based on the books by Angela Sommer-Bodenburg that was filmed in Canada. The show aired in 86 and has since become a well known classic. This is just one episode that I managed to find from my library of old tapes.

Check out this great fan site. I highly recommend:

The company responsible for this great series is Norflicks Productions:
http://www.norflicks.com/

It is currently not available on DVD or Blu-ray in North America but darn it, it should be!

If you are a fan or the series, the film or even the books, contact Norflicks and tell them what you, as a potential paying customer, wants.

Otherwise you can order the DVD from Amazon in Germany at roughly $113 after S&H. The German DVD has both the English and German audio tracks. But read up on the information before you decide to order:

  • No way! Uncle Theodor is Alfred from Batman! XD I love him.

    Thanks for posting!

  • This is one of my favorite roles involving Michael Gough. That and the part he played as the mad hare to Peter Cook's Alice In Wonderland from 1966.

What was great about his madhare was he approached it from a different angle than other actors. He played the part as though he were mentally challenged. When you consider it, mentally challenged persons were at one time institutionalized. The tea party seen with all three of the actors makes more sense.

  • Sorry, sentence should read:

"That and the part he played as the mad hare to Peter Cook's Mad Hatter Alice In Wonderland from 1966."
