How can you tell when the rats are playing and when they are just playing? I recently adopted two 1 year old female rats from an owner who could no longer keep them, and most nights I find one of them, Lilly, is always harassing the other, Olive. She runs after her and pins her down on her back. It's odd, Lilly is usually the shy one too. No blood and been drawn but I don't know if I should be concerned about this behavior.

@LoonyBird27 : typically the saying goes - no blood: no foul. So they are usually fine unless blood is drawn. Lilly could just be trying to establish that shes the dominate female in the new situation. It will probably settle down with time. Dont interrupt as that can reinforce behaviour, only seperate if blood is drawn.

the white and creamy coloured one looks like my female rat.. im about to get her a friend next time i pass the pest shop so she isn't to lonley while im at work.. great home you have set up for them. if you want to give them a treat and entertainment just give them a cool boiled egg with a little crack in the shell. they love trying to figure it out and get into it
