i loved their first two albums...yep, funk is definitely one of various influences in their melting pot. they took a similar approach to red hot chili peppers (circa mother's milk and bloodsugarsexmagik) and Fishbone-the kings of eclectic.
(if memory serves, Red Hot and Fishbone appear briefly in the Fast Lane video. VERY briefly) definitely ahead of their time...rage against the machine lucked out.
i owned thier album back in the day..i didn't realize until today listening to this song it sounds very james brown. i can actually hear him singing it "living in a fast lane UNGH!" don't know if that is coincidence or a direct influence. if this makes sence; the UDS sounded current for its time perhaps even a little ahead of its time yet it also contains a timeless/ classic sound. agree/ disagree?

Great to see them all alive and still kick asses! Schoppen kont since I saw them in Tivoli 1989. Like to see them again some night.
