The Kachin people of northern Myanmar are caught between the brutal rule of the Burmese military government and a rising China hungry for natural resources. This project looks behind the lines of the Kachin Independence Organization and its effort to protect the integrity of the Kachin homeland.

@lyndonlk But I believe that the promise must be made first. Or els who would believe again. If it doesn't fix the biggest lie in Burma history then We can't believe. Yes European is united but they still have their own constitution for each countries or people. Even China gave freedom to Hongkong and Macao. If we use the constitution which was written in the history by our late leaders then we can live happily ever. No one would want to cost problem. We can't trust to someone who lied before.

@kachinroad I'm sorry you feel that way. Looking at my country from abroad I tend to see more of the things we share in common rather than our differences. If Europe can unite as a European Union, why can't our country unite as one for the same goals which both our people rightfully deserve.

Aww my dear. YOu should study about your own people history. When did Kachin, Shan, Chin were a part of your so called country Burma. Yes we will be in the Burma or Union or united or Myanmar... whatever. Democratic or Comunist. We just don't care. We care about the promise that Burma's Leaders gave to us. IF you guys keep the promise then we don't care how you rule over Burma. That's what Kachin want.

Because of KIA and KIO, now there will be war in kachin state and people will fell and be killed just like in Karen state. If there wasn't any insurgents, there wun be war. It's sad how rebels fight... and people have to suffer.

you have my support for the cause of freedom but please know that the current burmese government does not represent the people of burma nor were they elected by the people. They are oppressing everyone burmese and non burmese alike. I hope you can all share my vision of a free Democratic Union of Burma with all the ethnic groups living together in united harmony.
