My 1st-generation, Korean-immigrant dad told me a similar story: Walking in the excess of 5 miles to school as a child, through torrential downpours and heavy snowstorms. Funny thing is I've been told by my Chinese friends that they've heard similar stories from their parents as well. Too many Asian grandparents choose precarious locations to raise children, it seems.
