You have just named some very, very great names, and all of these guys are great. But I don't how we could possibly compare Oscar with Nat Cole. They are very different artists, and I would guess that they admired each other comfortably and never saw themselves as rivals, just as, say, Modigliani might admire Paul Klee.
Oscar was a virtuoso and a monster as a player. Nat Cole was poetic, easy, comfortable. He was born with an ease in his soul that comes across.
I believe I heard OP say in an interview that there were two pianists he never, ever wanted to get into cutting contests with, Basie was one, and Cole was the other. It might also be noted that, on those occasions that OP ventured into vocal territory, he tried to sound as much like Cole as possible.
1. Who cares? Why can't you people just enjoy how swingin this thing is without arguing to prove a point.
2. Oscar was bad cat but Nat Cole was the "King" of the piano trio even before Oscar, and before he was known as a singer.
3. Who cares who's better than who? All of these cats swung really hard, and that's all you ever need. Ever heard Oscar play that slow stuff w/ hardly no double timing? Simply swingin.
How are these "leagues" determined? I don't subscribe to that school of thought, no matter the enrollment...
Despite their skill, technique, improvisation, or the pioneering spirit that led them to stretch the artform, it's still all about the music & what moves an individual.
I was comparing them as piano players not as musicians. As a musician Cole was as great as anybody.

You can have the lot of 'em, I'll keep Cole.

Better than Oscar? Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Not close my man. Only Art Tatum can be spoken in the same breath as OP.
