Due to the records controversial lyrics, many radio stations in the US, such as WABC New York City , one of the most influential stations in America with avery powerful signal did not play it. Those who did play it had to write to Capital Records for written permission to air the song with the controversial portions edited out. In many cases, it took Capital 6 weeks or longer to write back with the permission to air the song with the edits. By that time the song was fading off the charts and never achieved the wide airplay as other Beatles songs. John and Paul are the only Beatles on this song. Paul McCartney played drums, piano, bass and maracas. John Lennon playing rhythm guitar ,lead guitar, percussion and singing lead. It was recorded at Abbey Road Studios on April 14, 1969 and quickly released the 30th May of the same year,
