Beat It (solo) - Guitar Lesson with Tabs, Part One of Two

By request. I hope this helps those that asked for it :)

Please note that I am playing in standard tuning. The original song is played 1/2 step lower, by tuning your guitar down the equivalency of one fret.

How do you prevent hitting other strings when you tabbing, especially when you play loud volume? I keep hearing other stings... also pickup mic popping sound.

@Jayce1219 .. that is an excellent question. One of the most important, albeit hardest techniques that a rock guitarist can learn is how to silence the strings that they are not using. THis is combination of both right and left hand technique that is very had to explain.

is the whammy a must?

@MrAvion21 ... you can play it without a whammy bar, replacing the whammy bar moves with well crafted bending and slides, but it won't sound the same. That's my opinion.

Also, do you recommend Fast Fret..? I notice a lot of players do these effortless slides and... I can do them but they don't seem to glide as much, I was wondering if it's common for players to lubricate their strings and I just didn't get the memo..

@midknightbluez ... I've never used Fast Fret. I had a friend as an early teenager that put some greasy stuff on his strings but I didn't like the feel. But then again, I wasn't playing leads yet at that point, so I can say if I would like it or not now.

@Jayce1219 another way you could do it, is to get a string dampner, a nice little cheat, look them up on youtube, they work great!
