On Sunday 22 August, a 30-year-old man died after being found unconscious at the Curtin Immigration Detention Centre in WA's remote North West.

On Saturday 21st, he was taken by ambulance to Derby Hospital and transferred by air overnight to Perth's Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital where he later died.

This is the reality of detaining people in remote locations.

This is the complete abrogation of DIAC's duty of care.

Asylum seekers imprisoned in Curtin detention centre, like those detained on Christmas Island, like those held at Leonora, are isolated from medical care, psychological and other support structures that traumatised people coming from war zones are likely to need.

Putting people in these remote prison camps puts them at risk. Out of sight, out of mind - for political expediencey

  • The bloody lawyers who horridly advocate for these illegal immigrants are no better than the ambulance-chaser variety of shyster legal types. No conscience !! Why the hell do anglos advocate for these 3rd-world illegals. Beats me. Do the bleeding-hearts want a repeat of the feral underclass riots here .. same as so recently occurred in London ?? That's the way we as a nation are going, by persisting with multiculturalism .. an utter FAILURE as a social experiment. We URGENTLY need integration.

There are good people at the Center ... and there are without a doubt some i would not spit on.

There are people there who put in the effort , don't abuse the privileges they are given .. and honestly do there best to assist staff and fellow clients alike. personally i think a public forum involving representatives from

DIAC , SERCO , the religious liason officer , client representatives .... and local community groups that do programs and sporting events would be good.

  • I think that unless you have worked at Curtin ... or been there with DIAC ... you can not make a logical assessment

  • @batistabombfromhell the ADF is over there to exploit an already exploited people. i say that without disrespect to those brave people who make up the ADF, they are simply following orders. This has nothing to do with religion or wealth...it has to do with human rights. Although termed 'illegal boat arrivals', there is nothing illegal about it; Australia has an international and legally binding obligation to assist refugees. I could write lots more but maybe you'd be interested in a forum?

  • Do u people REALLY and TRUELY know what your talking about? DO u know that these's asyleem seekers Pay 10-20k just to get on the boat, do u know that if they protested in there afghan country like they did hear they would be killed? most people from the boat are muslim and practice Islam and read Karam.Theses people created a couruppt govorment in there country and they are doing it here in australia . Please consider what im saying, Our ADF is over there trying to defend Oz from theses ppl.
