The Twitter Song - every verse an absolute tweet! (original song)

Anyone noticed that a 140-character tweet echoes the 140 syllables of a sonnet? Why not extend the parallel, tweeting in verse, using rhyming stanzas of 14 beats? I call such doggerel "Twitterel".

I've missed the latest gossip, guys,
But I'm not feeling bitter
That I don't have a Blackberry
On which to go and twitter.

'Cause I'm inside the house right now,
Just twittering this song;
Every verse lasts just one tweet;
I hope it's not too long.

Chorus: To exchange with all your friends at once
Each waking thought and deed,
Who cares how dumb or trivial?
Twitter's all you need!

You can share with friends your every thought,
And anything you've done;
I think the whole thing's bollocks, guys,
But doing it's rather fun.

The simple rule when twittering
Is keeping things quite terse;
Now I've invented Twitteral
Which must be done in verse.

Amongst the young this kind of
Instant blog's a massive hit,
But doing it when youre sixty-plus
Can make you feel a twit.

If friends thought I'd been twittering
With folk I never saw,
They'd tell me straight: "Look, Paddy mate,
You need to get out more!"

If I'd been born a nightingale,
Boy, that would be quite neat!
I'd twitter, making women swoon
With every single tweet!

Most birds sing at dawn when there
Is not much else to do;
But night owls like to twitter for
A mate who's fit to woo.

Its time that this old folkie went
Back to his fol-der-ol;
These tweets are done, I've had my fun,
Goodnight my friends, and lol.
