  • Wearing a full body hijab that is thick and heavy and designed that way so that men can't see through it an see a nipple or something is not empowering.

Women are forced to wear them in the hottest climate in the world as sweat pours off of them while men wearing cloths made of very thin material that are like wearing pajamas in public.

If a woman says that empowers her it's because she has been brainwashed by her religion.

  • @endthedisease Thank you. Although the hijab is the head covering while the burka is the full-body suit

  • I'm just going to repeat myself because I have a question. So yes the guy sounds like a twat but don't you want to start a group for atheists where you study? A group partly for people who might be afraid to "come out" because they worry what people will think of them. Are they cowards? Not everyone has the confidence to be different. When everyone seems to be against you it's not really easy to stand up and offer a different opinion when you think you're going to be derided.

  • @Setveevtes Sorry if I missed your question earlier if I did.

I see where you're coming from but I think once you're already at the conference you've committed to "coming out" and you've gotten that much confidence already. Joining an SSA group is the first step while going to an AA convention and having an atheist blog is probably somewhere around step 56. I understand that people don't have as much confidence as others but he did have the confidence to post about it in a public blog.

  • I'm not sure what you guys were trying to accomplish with the burkas and the anti-baptism nonsense. Seemed childish and non-productive.

  • Okay, this one has me baffled. I have been an atheist for decades, and I have never heard of conventions, infighting, or even an atheist community. What the HELL is there to fight about? Or, for that matter have a convention, or even a community about? I don't believe in a deity. That is the sum total of my philosophy, regarding atheism, and theism. What is there to argue about, or even TALK about? if you need to spend a bunch of time rationalizing atheism, you should go back to church.

  • @baeritukaez They were trying to show that religion makes people do pointless things. Dressing up in burkas makes no sense to me. It's based on a religion which again is based on uncertainties and lies.

They were showing that religion makes no sense.

I don't know why your comment is rated so highly. Especially since it's posted to a video from a channel with so many intelligent subscribers.

  • @PandyFackleresque yes, I meant burka, just sleepy

  • @Setveevtes I'm definetly taking your position into consideration. I'll be making a video later more about this

  • @Setveevtes part of the show I think I'd be too much of a coward to stand up and say I found it offensive. I don't know. Obvioulsy you know more about it than me but it just seemed overly harsh.

  • @PandyFackleresque I forgive you :P But I just meant that guy may have felt like he was the only person at the conference who didn't agree with what was happening so didn't want to speak up. Putting him in that lone voice position. And even with a public blog the internet is still pretty good protection. I have no confidence whatsoever but on the internet...I'm an arrogant dick. I would go to an atheist conference since it's no big deal where I am. But if a large room full of people was enjoying
