I agree,I think it's mostly just to demonstrate the technique,and once you get it down..you can work in the,"what if" factor. As with most martial arts,there's always a back up for your technique,and a back up for your back up.

I'm a Ni-dan in karate and the thing I dislike the most are these kind of one step demonstrations.. How often is a person going to just throw one punch and leave that arm out there to be grappled or whatnot? I know practice is practice but sometimes this just hurts to watch.

Usually I would be very skeptical about martial art teachers because so many of them are scam artists. I've been searching for a good teacher....I think I found him. Arigato.
