A time-lapse video of me completely taking apart my laptop and replacing the motherboard. Then doing it again because I forgot to plug in my fan.

  • Hi! Nice video. I'm looking to tear apart my vostro 1400 too to change a fan, but can't find a proper tutorial anywhere. Can you suggest a link where to find a video so I can have a look at what is ahead of me in details?

    Cheers!

  • @deepblackh Dell has a nice service manual that can guide you through taking it all apart

  • @Buchenhofstudios Hi, sorry for your loss... even though changing the fan can revive it easily. I found a fan on ebay UK (there are quite a few). And there is a nice tutorial on how to take it apart on the website insidemylaptop . While you're at it, change other components (like a T7700 CPU, 4GB ram), quite cheap now and a great deal (depending on what your current CPU is, of course)

  • @deepblackh my fan in my vostro 1400 is broken after 4 years... do you know what kind of fan I would need and where I should get it???

  • Hi, is there anything between the graphic chipset and the heatsink ? Dell changed my motherboard and it keeps overheating since that operation. The diagnostic tools told me that it comes from the graphic chipset and I found that there's only air between this chipset and its heatsink on my computer.
