  • I would never call Sharapova a better player. Ever. Who has 13 Majors? Who has 3? However, I think she was saying at that time. Not really meaning over all.

  • @leangesdemoi Even so, Serena still beats Sharapova here to even their (then) "rivalry" at two each. She then went on to win the tournament! And before that, Serena already had 6 major titles to Sharapova's 1, including the "Serena Slam". So I don't know how you take a player with those credentials, then watch her beat Sharapova, and say something like "Sharapova is a better player". It's frankly mind boggling!

  • @leangesdemoi Shouldn't the "better" player win the match? Whenever Serena loses, Mary Carillo is always very quick to say that she got beat by "the better player". So how is it that when Sharapova loses to Serena, she can still be considered "better"? She is a biased commentator that's why!

  • What female in tennis history, at their best, could beat Serena at her best? I think no one. I believe that if you placed Serena at even 28, back in Graf's dominating era, that Serena would Hulk Smash her and all else! Period! Never mind Serena a few years younger. And that's my "humble" opinion. Serena would literally get arrested squashing Graf era competition!

  • @PokerWhale Steffi Graf was a great player but she did dominate in a weak era compared to Serena. The only great players in Steffi's prime were Seles and Sanchez-Viccario. Graf wasn't dominating while Navratilova was still in peak form. And Hingis and Davenport both reached their prime near the end of Graf's run. So really, she didn't have much competition besides Seles for most of those years. Serena has had to deal with Venus, Justine, Kim, Sharapova, Davenport, Hingis, Capriati, and Maruesmo.

  • Serena is one of the most dominating players in professional tennis....Yeah she has been injured and getting older but she still has it. People are highly doubting them (also Venus) and saying it might be the end for them. But please don't count them out especially Serena try being ranked #140 in the world and coming back to #1...The two best that ever played the game of tennis. Enough said.
