Early in 1930, during the depression, Jack Payne recorded "Happy Day's are here again", At the end of 1939 during the "Phoney War" a similar optomistic tune caught the public mood. Escapism was the order of the day on both counts.
Recorded 12th December 1939. Vocal chorus by Jack Payne.

  • My first Jack Payne Decca was 'Lords Of The Air' and 'There will Always Be An England' I found it in 1989 very close to the 50th Anniversary of the outbreak of War which was rather fitting as it brought back memories for my older folks. So good this!.
