I hate and love this song ...

yamazaki-san has a great voice, i fell in love with the song right away. but the song is so familiar, i think i've heard it even before i was able to watch 5 cm per second. i wonder if it's an original or an adaptation? and somehow yamazaki-san looks a bit like the drummer of this certain band i like. really cute :)

The song was also the theme song of the 1996 Japanese movie Moon and Cabbage. The reason Makoto Shinkai chose such a famous song was that he wants to evoke images of everyday happenings, and choosing a song that "everyone knows about" would add realism to the movie.

it has such a cheerful melody, but such sad words... it's like he's saying that he can't let her go, and it hurts, but he's okay, he is prepared to live on with that pain and burden inside him...
