When I was 4 or 5 I wanted to sing like Big Momma, the owl from the Fox and The Hound. (It never happened, I can't sing at all.) But it made me fall in love with Ms. Pearl and that was about 30 years ago!

@squirell1952 I don't think that person meant it as an insult . They meant "she is fooling around and being funny" . In old days people would call a jester or someone that was entertaining a fool.
-
@squirell1952 In black lingo and understanding, fool doesn't mean anything negative here. It means she was outrageously funny and daring in her deliverance of this song.
-
Queen Latifah should play her in a movie!!! :)
-
Squirell1952, Trelle's meaning "fool" as a compliment.
-
Why is TrelleStar calling Pearl Bailey a "fool"? Then she says "She was truly
a jewel". Trelle seems the fool, not Pearl.
-
This made me laugh, not because it's bad but because she added a lot of spunk and personality as she was singing this song :D I love it :) Her and Peggy Lee owned this song :)

I LOOOVE THIS VERSION BETTER. IT'S LIKE SPUNKY. HEY BIG SPENDAAAAR!
-
Pearl Bailey simply reminds me of good times, home, family. My sister saw her in person with that dark, beautiful skin.

@Elfinesmom yikes QL may look like Pearl, but can't sing like this
Pearl is a fool lol, Love her version. She was truly a jewel.
