@jarileigh Well, of course you are correct. I guess what I was trying to say was that the film never tries to label Katie as the standard psychotic killer. I found her plight didn't fall into something cliche. Of course she killed people while under a psychotic break, but the film allows you to sympathize with her making her journey less of a cautionary tale or an all out horror film. "Abandon" is the portrait for a damaged woman and how she deals with those feelings.

@stevenecarrier I understand you wanting to sympathasize with the character,(that's what makes it a great movie) she is beautiful, and has abandonment issues, but killing 2 men (and it's implied a third) because they don't want you falls into the psychotic category no matter what you look like.

@stevenecarrier She WAS psychotic, lots of women are "emotionally traumatized", and they don't act on their feelings of violence, if they are present, that is what separates a psychotic person from one who is simply emotionally traumatized. And she acted on those feelings of violence repeatedly, another distiguishing trait of those who are simply troubled, and those who act out violently. I thought the movie was underrated as well.
