Snow & Cold Start 'George' 1990 Peugeot 309 1294cc.

Cleaning off the drive and starting 'George' my Peugeot 309 'Winter Beater'
I bought this car in 2006 for £127 off of ebay.
He has a 1294cc OHV engine.
All the 309's with this engine from the 60's sound like a bag of broken spanners...But they are chain driven and have NO electronics or CAT just a hall effect generator in the distributor...So No points either!!!
They have hardened valve seats and are designed to run on un-leaded fuel
They are made from galvanized steel panels so they don't rust either!
George returns well over 50mpg on a run!
What more could you want from a car? :)

@2cv56 I have two white 309's...The other is a 1.6 GLX...Both of them are amazing cars!

If we get some cold weather this year I'll do cold starts of all of them including my 205 1.9GTI...The colder it gets, the more they like it...haha!!!

@djbazzmaster Old George is patiently waiting on the drive for the cold weather to come...haha!!!

He doesn't care how cold it gets!...As soon as you touch his key he's running...haha!!!

I'll do another video if it gets cold this year :)

Great car mate - looks a really tidy example too.

Treasure it because these original 309s are getting quite rare now.

I like the way the Peugeot attempted to disguise the manual choke switch by moulding it to fit flush with the dashboard fasia when choke was off. They did the same with the 205 as well.

He just aced his MOT today with no advisories! :)

I also have white 309 1.6 GLX ...She has an auto choke...Always starts on the money though...There's a cold start of her on here as well.

Even Chris has a 309...The blue 1.4 GL on the road outside...That thing is stupidly fast!

Don't worry...They are all treasured!

Nice 309,i can see it is in good condition too,but this is newer model right?

I do have an older version of it,the 1.8XLD diesel,1987 and still goes :D
