  • how do they always make it go off when there infront of the croud??

    they must just twist the throttle a bit more or sumthin

    and once they break the barrier can the plane go any faster?

  • this was probably during one of those carrier air shows. Tiger Cruise is what they call them I think

  • You Fail Physics Forever.

    It's "going off" continually but you can't hear it until the plane gets to you because it's faster than the sound.

  • @abacazam nothing "goes off" its just that the aircraft is moving faster then the speed of sound, the sound compresses behind it and instead of coming "gently" [still earsplittingly loud] as in subsonic flight it all comes in one big bleeding ear shot, if you watch the ocean as it passes you can see the sound shockwave hitting the water directly behind the f-14, oh and yes the f14 can get to around 1300 knots or so about 1600 mph, here it was probably moving around 800 mph

  • Just because the evidence is there... Little less than half a sec to clear the cruiser (watch the water) so that leaves: 567ft / 5280(ft/m) * 3600(s/hr) / .5s = 773 mph

    Speed of sound at sea level on a cool day = 761 mph. I was conservative and used half a sec. so he is doing a bit over the 773 mph. Our servicemen and women are the best and deserve the truth! ;}

  • @AeroSpaceBoy130 WRONG .. just call it AWESOME SHIT :D its badass when they go sonic boom

  • No. Not supersonic. Close but no cigar

  • Thats just a high pressure air wave compressed and tailing behind the aircraft. These idiots havent a clue what theyre talking about. Too funny. And btw, it isnt even legal to fly super-sonic anywhere near people. These guys are idiots. Lmao.

  • @robduncan2000 If you'd like to intelligently explain to all of us exactly what you see that denotes it is subsonic, please, we're ALL waiting with baited breath. Something more than "geeeeeeee.. I've only been in the AF for 10 years". Not really an argument is it?

    How should I put this.... Here - in your language: "but geeeee, the plane is only traveling ahead of the sound wave, but what do physics know?" And 8yr old could grasp this concept. I would think a 10yr AF Vet would too.

  • @xilix Youre a moron dude. Seriously. It is HUNDREDS of miles an hour below the sound barrier you brainless twit. But geeeeee, only having been in the AF for 10 years I guess I wouldnt know.... Idiot.

  • @robduncan2000 What the fuck are you talking about? How stupid can YOU get? It is genuinely breaking the sound barrier. You must be one of those idiots who think a conical moisture cloud around the fuselage is directly correlated to breaking the sound barrier. Robduncan2000 - meet abacazam!! You two will get along beautifully!

  • I love how it sounds like a Monkey craping out another monkey.

  • @AeroSpaceBoy130 yes they can go 80 percent faster in a fa 18

  • and how much did that cost tax payer in jet fuel??
