too bad an ordinary person can't own one of these in Washington state! it's time to repeal all these NAZI gun laws! it's not fail that THE FASCIST GOVERNMENT ENFORCERS CAN HAVE THESE BUT NOT US PEASANTS! RESTORE THE 2ND AMENDMENT, REPEAL ALL STATE AND FEDERAL GUN LAWS NOW!!!!!!!!

@jerseyemt Stupid you better believe it, Random? : not really it's made so that the govt can extort as much money as possible from the people .
Just think how many shotguns are sold as "shotgun" and not "other" when manufactured, it starts to add up, the U.S. govt loves to "nickel & dime " us that way they can tax more without most people adding it up and saying "Hey we as a nation are getting SCREWED!" ..keeps up "peons" in line and less likely to force a change.

@jerseyemt Thats thing, nothing is legal here. Damn scumbag on the take politicians.

@deepwater1974 Nope. The best you could do is find a coach gun that came from the manufacturer with a pistol grip only (without a shoulder stock). Cutting that down makes it an AOW. Still an NFA item, but only needs a $5 tax stamp. But I don't know whether AOW's are legal in Illinois.
Unfortunately, I don't know of any coach guns that came from the factory without a stock.
wouldnt this be a AOW

@GUNNY89
no, it started life as a shotgun, so it is an SBS

@GunWebsites Just another example of how stupid NFA laws can be. Take two identical shotguns -- pistol grip only with chopped barrels. One is an SBS, but the other is an AOW, because one originally came from the factory with a shoulder stock, and the other with just the pistol grip.
They're the EXACT SAME GUN, yet one requires a $5 AOW tax stamp and the other a $200 SBS tax stamp.
