Home movies by Howie Mann, drummer in the Elliot Lawrence band. August 1950: The Galvez Club, Hotel Galvez, Galveston, Texas: Frankie Laine plays ball in pool.

Aug. 20, 1950 (Sunday): Free open-air Concert at Murdoch's Pier. Sponsored by the Greater Galveston Beach Association. Seats set up for 1500 people. Others heard the concert from loud speakers that carried for two blocks. A special platform was constructed for the concert that was completed just prior to the concert start at 4:00 p.m.

Howie Mann family members ham it up for the camera... Skit with three members of the Elliot Lawrence band (Howie Mann, drums; Joe Techner, trumpet; Phil Urso, sax) My dad Joe Techner is the one with the light-colored sports coat. Phil Urso wears suspenders. Howie has the blue shirt.
