Extra Work Part 1: Doing the job

1) Find out where you need to be there, when you need to be there, and what you need to bring.

2) Make sure you also have a pen, whatever toiletries you expect to use, and something you can do quietly during your downtime.

3) Get to the location a little early, and either walk or take a shuttle to the set.

4) Find an Assistant Director (AD) or a Production Assistant (PA) and sign in.

5) Check in with Wardrobe, Hair, and Make up. Usually sets only make you check in with wardrobe. Bring wardrobe options.

6) On set do not talk during filming or look directly into the camera unless you are told to. Also, be careful about talking to the actors, Use your best judgement.

7) When the day is done, make sure you have everything you brought, you've returned everything you've borrowed, and that all your paperwork has been filled out correctly.

8) If production needs you for another day and you have a prior engagement keeping you from working, it is not going to be the end of the world. Just tell production you cannot make it, and they will understand (especially since you're just an extra).
