The Aokigahara Forest is the most popular site for suicides in Japan. After the novel Kuroi Jukai was published, in which a young lover commits suicide in the forest, people started taking their own lives there at a rate of 50 to 100 deaths a year. The site holds so many bodies that the Yakuza pays homeless people to sneak into the forest and rob the corpses. The authorities sweep for bodies only on an annual basis, as the forest sits at the base of Mt. Fuji and is too dense to patrol more frequently.

  • 'You think you die alone, but that's not true. Nobody is alone in this world. We have to coexist and take care of each other. That's how I feel' .. That's how I feel too. And what he said about society, communication and coexistence was so true. What a lovely and wise man, if only the world had more people like him.

  • I have a perspective on why people go there to die. They are, as he also seems to know, utterly fed up with society. It's a cruel, hard and lonely world, especially in Japan. Everyone is expected to behave and be nice, but it's not what they see coming back from the general consensus of who controls society. So they'd rather go back to nature, be natural, and die surrounded by peace and tranquility of a forest, instead of a box in their cramped quarters. That tree hugging shit is pretty real...

  • @VoodooCrayon Yoo come vit da voodoo

  • what's the guys name?

  • Damn shame that people have to go into the middle of a forest to take their own lives. I know it's sad and all, but the fact is that an adult deciding to take their own life is their decision, and I frankly think we need to be more accepting of it.

  • @loolsos lol he walked around looking for dead bodies alone. huge nuts maybe. but its not like he was giving a speech that would give any reason to even know what kind of person he is, or how smart, or intentions. he was observing what he saw and found. people like you and the 38 thumbs are the reason obama is president. fuckin tards

  • It's odd after watching this documentary the first place I wanna visit within Japan is that forest. It's truly a unique place, just like the Japanese suicide cliff in WWII the culture in general has always retained suicidal tendencies.

  • @loolsos And I do not agree with you, why? It is simple, you're at the moment bragging with your grasp of the human being. I do not care if that person has right in everything, because I don't know that, maybe he has a badness or not. But back to the reason why I do not agree with you. You're a toady stop, full stop, finish!

  • If more people in this world felt the way this man dose we could solve a lot of social issues just by really and truly caring about one another

  • No one is alone in this world. That's true, even though I always think that I am always alone but people around me still care about me.
