The purpose of this 7-part play list of backing tracks is for the soloist to learn to recognize the sounds of the 7 diatonic modes while playing only the notes of the C-Major scale.

You can jam with each of these 7 backing tracks using only the notes of the C-Major scale, and yet get a different "mood" (mode) out of your instrument each time.

The backing tracks are identical 12-bar I, IV, V progressions; it's just that the I, IV, V chords will be different for each mode.

Part 1 of 7 is C - Ionian (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7); major scale
Part 2 of 7 is D - Dorian (1, 2, b3, 4, 5, 6, b7); minor tonality w/major 6th
Part 3 of 7 is E - Phrygian (1, b2, b3, 4, 5, b6, b7); a darker minor tonality
Part 4 of 7 is F - Lydian (1, 2, 3, #4, 5, 6, 7); the brightest major tonality
Part 5 of 7 is G - Mixolydian (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, b7); major tonality w/ minor 7th
Part 6 of 7 is A - Aeolian (1, 2, b3, 4, 5, b6, b7); natural minor scale
Part 7 of 7 is B - Locrian (1, b2, b3, 4, b5, b6, b7)
