The eighth piece of my renaissance rackett collection. The rackett has always been one of my favourite renaissance instruments, and it's a shame its use declined so vastly into the Baroque era and beyond. Lately though, the rackett has seen a slight renaissance. :)
This is one of the 12 Dances from the Danseryes (1551). This one is called Bransle, a French dance.
Thought you might like to know if you don't know the origins of this piece. I've enjoyed your Rackett collection, and I must say it is one heck of a remarkable instrument :)
That's crumhorns and a regal. It's the Early Music Consort of London's Two Renaissance Dance Bands with David Munrow playing the top line.
