Frank Torres,
Gary Troup was the author of Bad Twin and the controversial Equation Valenzetti. He is described as an "acclaimed writer of mystery" and "a master of quiet irony." It was confirmed in an article in the New York Times of 27 May 2006, quoted by the senior vice president of marketing at ABC, Michael Benson, and the podcast of 30/10/06 by Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse, who is the Gary Troup "Man of the turbine" - a few minutes after the crash, Troup made the mistake of standing in front of a turbine - still attached - the plane, being sucked and killed, causing the explosion of the turbine.
Before the Fall
Little was known of the background of the author before the comments published by the editors at Hyperion. It is known that Troup was involved in a relationship with a flight attendant on Oceanic, Cindy Chandler, who was also present on Flight 815. If this is considered true or not, remains unclear. It was given to Cindy for Troup, a secondary role in the novel Bad Twin. The book is dedicated to her.
On 16 September 2004, 6 days before the accident, Gary Troup was interviewed by Laird Granger about his new novel Bad Twin Book Talk program (Program No. 1523). Troup discussed, among other things, about the Hanso Foundation, The Equation Valenzetti and his love for Cindy. So far, seven of nine parts of the interview appeared in several sites in the Lost Experience.
Troup was described as an "acclaimed writer of mysteries" and a "master of subtle irony." He delivered the manuscript of latest book, Bad Twin, Hyperion Books for a few days before boarding Flight 815, he was returning home.
The Island
Season 1
A few minutes after the crash, not knowing that his love, Cindy, was alive and well across the island, Troup made the tragic and fatal mistake of getting in front of a turbine of the plane were still running, and then he was sucked into it. The incident killed him, causing a rain of remains of Troup on the other survivors.
Season 2
Troup continued to have a small impact when a manuscript of Bad Twin was found and read by Hurley ( "The Long Con"). Later, the manuscript was purchased by Sawyer. When Sawyer tried to postpone the application for guns stolen by Jack ( "cool off and go walk the coconut, there are still some 10 pages), Jack threw the pages that reveal the ultimate in fire (" Two for the Road "). Episodio that Ana Lucia Dies - Michelle Rodriguez
Season 3
A flashback shown simultaneously with the events of the "Pilot, Part 1" shows the explosion of the turbine leading Troup death, now the prospect of Nikki* Kiele Sanchez* . ( "Exposé") in Rodrigo Santoro - Paulo
Damn, how in the hell was that engine still running even after the wing has been torn from the fuselage? That engine must have an independant power supply system and i doubt you can run something that big just on a car battery. And if that did happen to an unlucky enough person, their body would be like a giant bird strike to the engine and yes might cause an explosion

@phoenix13nl inrela life that is what happens but if you freeze frame the scene, the smoke monster is what made it explode! It swoops down from the sky and causes the explosion, watch from 2.5 seconds in and freeze frame the the sceneat around 3 seconds or even 4 and you can see the mysterious black cloud come form the sky!

@TurkeySandwich75: Maybe it's because on the show hes covered with dirt and ashes, since he was kind of just survived a plane crash. Look closer and you will see he's a white dude on the show too. I guess it's easier to tell watching it in high def than on shitty youtube, but even here it seems pretty obvious.

Im currently reading Bad Twin by Gary Troup (Sawyer was seen reading his maniscript in an episode), I felt sorry for Gary being sucked into the turbine. Man if it wasnt for Christine inviting him to austrellia, he would be alive.
Aside its actually a good book. A true lost fan would easily make connections "Note to Cindy", "Hanso Corperation", etc
